KERRY O’Keeffe has warned Australia’s latest spinner Xavier Doherty to expect a full-blooded assault from England’s batsmen almost from the time he delivers his debut ball in the first Test, beginning at Brisbane’s Gabba on Thursday.

“When he comes on, they’ll be attacking from the outset,” O’Keeffe told The Australian. “It’s a measure of where he’s at if he can hang tough.”

  1. What a phenomenal blog! To the folks that run this, big pat on the back. Proper dedication to all things Ashes, eh!

Seeing as you love cricket, – and with apologies for this shameless plug – you and your readers might be interested in the article we just published on England’s warm-up game preparations (http://sportingblogs.wordpress.com/2010/11/22/the-poms-down-under-the-warm-up-games-review/). Although O’Keefe nipped out KP in the latest warm-up game, he and Steve Smith witnessed a fair few dispatchings dished out against their spin by the England boys (Ian Bell in particular), so O’Keefe could well be right to warn Mr Doherty…
One would have assumed Hauritz’s experience and relatively-decent record in Australia (for a finger spinner) would have kept him in the side… but obviously not!
As said above, highly commendable blog. “Subscribed”…
