Down but not out, England have vowed to “come out scrapping” on day two of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba after absorbing a Peter Siddle body blow.
Australia will resume at 0-25 on Friday after Siddle’s Test-best 6-54 – on his 26th birthday no less – helped bundle England out for 260 on the opening day.
England were sitting pretty at 4-197 with Bell and opener Alastair Cook (67) at the crease before Siddle’s hat-trick sparked a rout of 6-63.
