As his team were forced to turn the other cheek on a frustrating day two of the first Ashes Test, it has been revealed English coach Andy Flower had a melanoma cut from his.

English officials said Flower had missed day two action at the Gabba because he had the skin cancer removed from his right cheek in Brisbane.

Flower was resting in hospital after having the melanoma successfully removed on Friday.
