Ponting tips outright result in Adelaide

Australia captain Ricky Ponting has tipped an outright result in the second Ashes Test.

But like so many before it, the match at Adelaide Oval may be well into the final day before the winner becomes apparent.

Adelaide famously offers a little to fast men on the first morning before flattening out and then eventually affording turn to spinners and variable bounce to quicks in the closing stages.

Despite a run-infested final three days of the first Test at the Gabba, Ponting reckoned history dictated that Adelaide would be likely to produce a 1-0 advantage to one of the teams.
