Cook and Trott join forces again

Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott picked up where they left off in Brisbane as England recovered from the shock early loss of Andrew Strauss in Adelaide.

Cook and Trott, who shared a monumental unbroken stand of 329 at the Gabba last week, added a further 87 today without being separated.

They took England to 90 for one by lunch in reply to Australia’s 245, batting with sufficient poise to arouse hopes of establishing a first-innings advantage on a pitch that remains remarkably true.
