Doherty out of his depth

It has become clear that Xavier Doherty does not cut the mustard as a Test player.

The left-arm orthodox tweaker finished day three of the crucial second Ashes Test with figures of 0-120.

There are excuses at his disposal – including the fact the quicks have gone largely wicketless and leaving Doherty to bowl at established batsmen, his inexperience in Tests, and the docile pitch.
