Class is permanent. As I predicted yesterday the real Australia have shown up at last. After another dropped catch and a painful hour, a revitalised Mitchell Johnson tore through England’s batting like it was paper. The Freemantle Doctor failed to come in, and instead the humidity rose allowing Johnson to swing the ball like the proverbial boomerang, out then in to the right hander in a mesmerising display. Here was the legend we’d heard tales of … Read More

Cricket Australia meet the Barmy Army (VIDEO)
You can hear them from all corners of the ground so CATV’s James Sherry went to find out what all the signing is really about.

Phew what a scorcher! (via barmyarmyashes.com)
I thought I spotted Michael Holding at the ground this morning and his was an appropriate face, as the WACA this morning resembled nothing so much as the Oval in that scorching summer of 76. Actually that’s a lie, it resembled the English summer of 76 as much as a blast furnace resembles a struck match. By 11am the masses were already reaching for the 2nd dose of sun block and the beer runs were beginning in earnest. Yet it was Australia who foun … Read More

It’s like having holiday in the USA, visiting New York, New Jersey and Boston but in between heading over to San Francisco. It makes no sense from a tourist pespective … Read More

Winning isn’t everything (via barmyarmyashes.com)
Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” said Fat Phil, an Australian in an Adelaide bar opposite the train station last night. Now Fat Phil is hardly re-writing the lexicon of sporting wisdom with his statement as it is one of the perennial quotes. Its originator is generally regarded to be Vince Lombardi the legendary American Football coach. Of course, it is also distinctly unhelpful – bovine scatology in fact. Now I am hardly well plac … Read More
