Bowling attack to be changed: Nielsen

Coach Tim Nielsen says Australia have been forced to consider changes to their bowling attack by a poor showing on the final two days of the first Ashes Test at the Gabba.

Under the most pressure is left-armer Mitchell Johnson who did not take a wicket in the match, and Nielsen said changes were definitely on the agenda.

“It’s something we’ve got to think about,” Nielsen said. .

“Certainly something we are aware of.”

Australia do at least have the option of calling on a pair of in-form bowling options after Ryan Harris and Doug Bollinger both performed smartly for their domestic teams.

England have confirmed they may rest key bowlers for their final warm-up game before the start of the Ashes series against Australia A.

Captain Andrew Strauss confirmed the entire squad would travel to Tasmania before a decision was made.

“The options we’ve got are that some of them play in Hobart, or that some of them head up to Brisbane and get acclimatised,” Strauss told the BBC.
