Australia announce squad for ICC Cricket World Cup

Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) today announced the 15-man squad for next month’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

The Australia Team will be proudly sponsored by VB as it seeks its fourth consecutive ICC Cricket World Cup.

The squad is:

Doug Bollinger NSW 29
Brad Haddin NSW 33
John Hastings VIC 25
Nathan Hauritz NSW 29
David Hussey VIC 33
Mike Hussey WA 35

Brett Lee NSW 34
Tim Paine TAS 26
Steve Smith NSW 21
Shaun Tait SA 27
Shane Watson NSW 29
Cameron White VIC 27

Hauritz, Lee and Tait named in Australia one-day squad

Nathan Hauritz, Brett Lee and Shaun Tait have been named in the Australia squad to face England in the first of seven one-day internationals on Sunday.

Batsman David Hussey is also included but Callum Ferguson and Shaun Marsh have failed to make the squad, putting their places in the World Cup in doubt.

The deadline for the naming of the World Cup squad is 19 January, two days before the second one-dayer.

Lee: KP still match-winner

Brett Lee has warned Australia’s planned assault on Kevin Pietersen could backfire spectacularly and cost the hosts any chance of regaining the Ashes.

Pietersen has been struggling for form over the past 18 months, failing to post a Test century since March 2009 and losing his spot in England’s one-day side.
